Geographical Location
Xiang’an campus of Xiamen University is located in Xindian, Xiang’an District, Xiamen City. It is located to the north of Xiangshan Mountains and the south of Xiang’an South road, 34 kilometers away from Siming Campus of Xiamen University.

Xiang’an campus covers an area of 246 hectares (3692.47 mu).
Current Situation
Xiang’an Campus was put into use in September 2012. Currently it accommodates more than 18,200 students and over 2000 faculty and staff members. There are 11 colleges in the campus. They are School of Life Sciences, School of Medicine, School of Public Health, School of Pharmaceutical Sciences, College of Ocean and Earth Sciences, College of Environment and Ecology, School of Aerospace Engineering, College of Energy, Chinese International Education College/Overseas Education College, School of Electronic Science and Engineering, and School of Informatics. And there are also some students from Minority Pre-undergraduate Class, College of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, Pen-Tung Sah Institute of Micro-Nano Science and Technology, Institute of Flexible Electronics, who live and study in this campus. Currently there are 15 national-level research platforms in Xiang'an Campus, accounting for 83% of national-level research platforms in the university.
Functional Orientation
Xiang’an Campus embraces emerging disciplines and applied disciplines, including Life Sciences, Medicine, Public Health, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Ocean and Earth Sciences, Environment, Ecology, New Energy, Aerospace Engineering, Informatics, Microelectronics, etc. The Campus aims to set up a number of national, provincial and municipal research centers for emerging disciplines and applied disciplines. Besides, it’s also designed to be the Southern Base of Confucius Institute Headquarters, developing International Chinese Language Education.
Prospects for the Future
The construction of Xiang’an campus is a major plan for Xiamen University to promote “Double First-Class” construction and the “Two Centenary” goals. The campus will become an important base for the training of innovative talents in emerging disciplines and applied disciplines, and for technological innovation and cooperation between production, study and research. It will contribute greatly to the economic and social development of Xiamen, Fujian and China, promote the transformation of the mode of economic development and develop emerging strategic industries with the support of technology and talents.
